What started out as a small bar with a limited menu known as The Grill at Avondale, also known as “the Dale,” has now turned into one of the hottest dining spots in Hayden.
This neighborhood pub and restaurant is a hidden gem that reflects the history of Avondale Farms in which the restaurant is located. The restaurant offers a rustic “barn chic” atmosphere decorated with barn doors and fixtures which create a warm and relaxed environment. The menu offers a variety of home-style comfort foods and signature entrées. “Our prime rib on Friday and Saturday evenings are as good as you will find anywhere,” says Randy Folk, general manager. “We cure and smoke our own meats, which is key to our success.”
The menu also offers a variety of comfort foods such as artisan pizzas, chicken marsala, shrimp scampi and homemade lasagna which exceeds expectations. In addition to the regular menu, guests are offered a weekly fresh sheet of homemade specials. “Guests are surprised at the quality of our dishes and how affordable we are,” adds Randy. He and his staff constantly hear guests say, “I had no idea this restaurant was open to the public, and we can’t wait to come back!”
“The transformation of the restaurant was at the core of redefining our brand,” says Randy. “Breaking away from being known as a golf-course restaurant was our focus. We have established ourselves as the place to go in Hayden Lake, as we provide a fun place for our guests to dine and let loose.”
Adjacent the restaurant is the newly decorated pub which is a great place to watch a sporting event and enjoy a cocktail. The pub has a full bar featuring cocktails, more than 25 beers and an extensive wine selection. One of the best known secrets by locals is the size of their drink pours, which are very generous. “I learned very early on from our regulars not to mess with the amount of the pour size, and we have stayed committed to our guests of being generous when it comes to drinks,” says Randy.
During the winter months, The Grill at Avondale is open November through February, Thursday through Monday 3 to 9pm, serving breakfast on Sundays. During the spring and summer months, starting March 1, the pub and restaurant are open daily. Call for reservations.
